7-Star Typhlosion Tera Raid Guide

[ad_1]

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid has been officially announced, and players will be facing a Ghost Tera-type creature which may be tricky to be if not using the best Pokémon and their proper builds. This Tera Raid event will occur for a limited time during two distinct periods. This first one happens from April 14 to April 16, while the second one is set to be held from April 21 to April 23. Regardless of the two periods, this event is the same, and players can only capture one copy of the Ghost Tera Type Typhlosion.

Despite the catch limit, players can challenge the event as often as they want during the established periods. Upon completion of 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raids, players will continue to receive rewards, such as EXP Candies and Tera Shard which are used for leveling and changing Tera Types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, respectively. Despite Typhlosion’s minimal move pool, especially in comparison to other Pokémon Legends: Arceus starter evolutions in Scarlet and Violet, like Decidueye and Samurott, its build and Tera Type may pose a threat to underprepared Trainers.

Ghost-Type Typhlosion’s Weaknesses

A Typhlosion roars in a crowded village in the Pokémon anime.

In Tera Raids, taking advantage of the Pokémon’s weakness is crucial, especially for taking down their shields. Unfortunately, this is also true for the 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid. As a high-level activity that is difficult to one-shot, the creature will likely raise its shield and require players to use super-effective moves against it to take down the shield sooner rather than later – the activity has a time limit, so it is necessary to finish it as quickly as possible.

As Typhlosion’s Tera Type is Ghost-type, players must use Pokémon that know super-effective moves. The two types that hit Ghost-types in such a manner are Dark-type and Ghost-type. This means that players will need to choose creatures that know either Dark-type or Ghost-type offensive moves to melt through its shield. Typhlosion’s traditional Water-type and Ground-type weaknesses, for example, will not be in play here.

Players must consider, however, that it will still know most of its regular Fire-type moves. This means that those who choose the powerful Dark- and Steel-type, Kingambit, thinking merely about the Dark-type Kowtow Cleave move, for instance, will likely see themselves self-sabotaging the entire fight, with multiple faints that reduce the time limit even further. More than that, this is where the 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid can get tricky: the creature will likely be able to counter Pokémon that would traditionally be strong against it.

How Typhlosion Can Counter Its Own Weaknesses

Jimmy's Typhlosion in battle in The Legend of Thunder! tv movie

As with most 7-star Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Typhlosion will likely know seven moves throughout the fight. This gives it ample coverage against most of its weaknesses while also showcasing a few of its signature Fire-type moves. While it does not learn Fighting-type and Fairy-type moves through leveling-up, it can learn a few through TMs and breeding, and these moves can be used in its pool to counter Dark-type Pokémon. Focus Blast, Double Kick, Brick Break, and even Play Rough are strong moves it can know.

Because Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid features a Ghost Tera-type creature, it will also likely know a Ghost-type move, which is an immediate counter to its Ghost-type weakness.

Best Chi-Yu Counter Build

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Chi Yu On Tera Raid Battle Background

As mentioned by GameWith, Chi-Yu may be a great Pokémon to use in solo battles against Typhlosion due to its Dark-type advantage and Fire-type resistances. Despite being weak against Fighting- and Fairy-type, it may be strong enough to defeat the opponent. Chi-Yu only works in solo battles; however, as its Ability, Beads of Ruin, decreases the Special Defense of all Pokémon on the field other than itself – if taken into multiplayer, it will negatively affect the team composition and its defenses. In the table below is the best Chi-Yu build for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid:

Chi-Yu

Tera Raid Build For Ghost Tera Type Typhlosion

Ability

Beads of Ruin

Nature

Modest (+Sp. ATK, -ATK)

Held Item

Shell Bell

EV Distribution

252 Sp. ATK, 252 HP, 4 Sp. DEF

Tera Type

Dark

Moveset

  • Nasty Plot
  • Snarl
  • Dark Pulse
  • Taunt or Reflect

By using Nasty Plot to boost its Special Attack and Snarl to lower Typhlosion’s Special Attack, it can spam Dark Pulse as a STAB (same type attack bonus) move capable of super-effective strikes against the opponent. The fourth and final movement is flexible and can be changed according to players’ preferences. However, it is important that it has a Dark Tera Type and that players know it is subject to Typhlosion’s possible Fighting- or Fairy-type super-effective moves.

Best Dachsbun Counter Build

New gen 9 Pokémon Dachsbun is posed next to Fidough in front of a building.

Dachsbun may be an excellent option for facing Typhlosion in the Tera Raid, especially in an online team. The main trick for high-level Tera Raids is staying alive, and the Generation 9 creature seems fit for the job. The Fairy-type Pokémon with the Well-Baked Body Ability becomes immune to any of Typhlosion’s Fire-type moves and gets Defense boosts every time it is hit by one. Additionally, its only possible weakness from Typhlosion is Steel-type, and it is less likely it will know Gyro Ball to counter Dachsbun – it is not entirely out of consideration, however.

Tera Raid Build For Ghost Tera Type Typhlosion

Ability

Well-Baked Body

Nature

Impish (+DEF, -Sp. ATK)

Held Item

Leftovers

EV Distribution

252 DEF, 252 HP, 4 ATK

Tera Type

Dark

Moveset

  • Misty Terrain
  • Crunch
  • Helping Hand
  • Tail Whip or Charm

The concept of Dachsbun’s build for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid is to support the team. It is focused on staying alive through the fight, lowering Typhlosion’s stats, and boosting the team’s power. With Helping Hands, it can help a striker deal more damage, and Misty Terrain prevents other team members from being Burned. Crunch is its super-effective move against the opponent, while the fourth movement is flexible, depending on players’ preferences.

Best Vaporeon Counter Build

Vaporeon is a projected Pokemon to ace Greninja Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

If players need or want more damage output while also being resistant in 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid, they should consider using a Vaporeon. While the Stored Power build for Vaporeon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may actually be great – even with the move’s Psychic-type disadvantage against the Ghost Tera Type Typhlosion – players can play around with it. It should still be a tank, but one that’s more tailor-built around Typhlosion’s weaknesses.

EV Distribution

Ghost

Moveset

  • Rain Dance
  • Acid Armor
  • Calm Mind
  • Shadow Ball

With this alternative build, players can build up a resilient and resistant Vaporeon, capable of withstanding and healing through most of Typhlosion’s powerful strikes and spamming a Ghost-type move that can be super-effective without the risk of being hit by a super-effective attack. Typhlosion may know Solar Beam, which can counter Vaporeon, but it is likely the only risk it should represent. Pokémon Scarlet and Violets 7-star Typhlosion Tera Raid is the last in the series of Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ starter evolutions and the following ones are still a mystery.
