To obtain Grand Theft Auto Online’s Musket, players must keep an eye out for a special event week that takes place once a year. While technically classed as a shotgun in-game, the Musket is similar to a single-shot rifle with a high damage output and impressive range. However, these qualities are offset by a small clip size and long reload times which drastically reduce its fire rate.
In a game world where players can stock their weapon arsenals with modern high-tech firearms, including Grand Theft Auto Online’s Railgun, the Musket is a bit of an odd antique. However, in the right hands, it still stacks up well against more modern weapons, making it a worthy addition to any player’s arsenal. The Musket can be purchased from Ammu-Nation stores for $21,400, but unfortunately, it’s only available at a specific time each year.
When To Buy The Musket
The Musket is only available to purchase from Ammu-Nation stores during the Independence Day Special event, which normally runs between the end of June and the start of July every year. This event covers Independence Day and gives players a small window to gather the necessary funds and purchase the Musket.
According to Rockstar Games, the Musket was introduced in the first Independence Day Special event in 2014, and the weapon has reappeared during the event every year since.
While the Musket’s availability fits the historic Independence Day theme, it’s also disappointing for players who have to wait for the annual event. GTA Online is great for the holiday season, but unfortunately, Rockstar hasn’t yet announced dates and times for this year’s Independence Day Special. Luckily for players, it seems likely the Musket will be up for sale again regardless, and according to Rockstar, it even received a neat 50% discount in 2022.
How To Use The Musket Effectively
According to GTA Wiki, the Musket has the following stats:
Damage |
Range |
Ammo Capacity |
Fire Rate |
Reload Speed |
---|---|---|---|---|
165HP |
250m |
1 |
1.567 |
4.56 seconds |
It’s worth noting that the Musket’s small clip size and incredibly slow reload speed make it a poor choice for fast-paced firefights, where assault rifles and machine guns easily outmatch it. Additionally, given the Musket’s limited availability, it’s best to stick with weapons that all GTA Online players should own, such as the all-purpose Special Carbine MK2.
However, the Musket is arguably much more viable as a long-range rifle, where players owning weapons with high fire rates can’t hit their targets with any accuracy. Furthermore, the Musket’s high damage output makes it an excellent choice for downing players and even destroying vehicles in Grand Theft Auto Online, as long as players ensure their shots don’t miss.
