Coach Realtors has merged with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services to form a new company called Howard Hanna | Coach Realtors.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The merger gives Pittsburgh-based Howard Hanna a foothold on Long Island, further expanding its growing presence in New York State, where it claims to be the largest residential brokerage in units sold. The company has more than 480 offices in 13 states and closed over $40 billion in home sales last year.

As part of the agreement, Coach Realtors will retain its existing leadership, with Whitney Finn LaCosta serving as CEO of Howard Hanna | Coach Realtors and LP Finn continuing his role as COO.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Howard Hanna,” Finn LaCosta said in a company statement. “We’re still the same Coach Realtors people have come to know and love, and you can expect the same top-quality service from our team. We just have a stronger real estate network for our clients now.”

Howard “Hoby” Hanna IV, president of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said the partnership with Coach will present greater opportunities for its agents.

“Our combined strength, talents and resources will be such an advantage in the industry,” Hanna said in the statement.

Both family-owned firms were founded in the 1950s. Coach has about 700 agents in 19 offices throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Howard Hanna has grown through acquisitions and partnerships to become the fifth largest residential real estate company in the country.

“They’re a company that we share a lot of important values with,” LP Finn, operating officer for Coach Realtors, said in the statement. “Their leadership team operates with integrity, and they’ve shown a commitment to do right by their employees and by their community too. I can’t wait to see what we’ll be able to accomplish together.”
