Northwell Health has entered into an agreement with Epic, a Wisconsin-based electronic health provider whose software is use by healthcare providers for more than 300 million patients around the world.
The agreement is part of Northwell’s “ongoing digital transformation” and is expected to result in “ore seamless patient and team member experience,” across the health system, according to a news release about the agreement.
With Epic, Northwell said in the news release that it will focus on improving clinical continuity for each patient across ambulatory, emergency, inpatient and post-acute care. The health system will gain a “more intuitive platform,” reducing the “administrative and cognitive burden for clinical and revenue cycle staff.” And it will provide for better workflow efficiencies. This platform is expected to be in effect in 2025.
“Implementing Epic at Northwell will require a multi-year effort re-visioning the consumer experience, clinical workflow and standards followed by configuration and ultimately activation,” Joseph Moscola, PA, executive vice president of Enterprise Services at Northwell, said in a news release.
“We are at the start of an exciting digital transformation journey, which includes utilizing Google Cloud to discover data insights and refining our customer relationship management to create personalized experiences,” Moscola said.
“We are excited for the collaboration and possibilities with Epic,” Sophy Lu, senior vice president and chief information officer at Northwell, said in a statement. “This is a significant foundational decision to simplify our digital ecosystem in order to enhance the connectedness of Northwell’s integrated system delivery and bring joyful experiences at every touchpoint.”
