What to Expect From The Boogeyman
The Boogeyman is an adaptation of King’s 1973 short story of the same name. Directed by Dashcam‘s Rob Savage, the film stars The Mindy Project‘s Chris Messina as Will, Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s Vivien Lyra Blair as Sawyer, Yellowjackets‘ Sophie Thatcher as Sadie, and Dastmalchian as Lester. The script was penned by A Quiet Place duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods along with Black Swan‘s Mark Heyman.
The Boogeyman centers on Sadie and Sawyer as they struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives following the unexpected death of their mother. Meanwhile, their father Will wrestles with his own pain stemming from the tragic loss, neglecting his own children’s emotional needs. His distance from the two will likely see him dismiss their claims of a mysterious violent force lurking within their house.
With King’s original source material light on story due to its narrative form, The Boogeyman will likely expand on the characters, their backstories, and the plot to enrich the adaptation. As much of the film’s story has been kept under wraps, it is unclear how the movie’s narrative has been changed. Audiences will finally get a chance to see how The Boogeyman has potentially improved the story when it hits theaters this summer.
