Among the new Pokémon revealed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s upcoming DLC may be one of the strongest Pokémon in the franchise’s history.

The announcement of DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has brought with it the reveal of several new Pokémon, one of which could be among the most powerful in the franchise’s history. News of the upcoming two-part DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, was presented as part of this year’s Pokémon Day celebration. Multiple new Legendaries were introduced at the same time, one of which is believed to have incredible powers.

The Pokémon franchise is no stranger to powerful beings. Even in Generation 1, Mewtwo was presented as one of the most powerful Pokémon in existence. Of course, Mewtwo now has plenty of rivals for this title, even if some of the strongest Pokémon have been nerfed over time. Many of these are actually Legendary Pokémon themselves, with perhaps the clearest example being Arceus, the creator of the Pokémon world. Other notable Legendaries include Palkia and Dialga, rulers of time and space, as well as Xerneas and Yveltal, associated with life and destruction. Now another Legendary in the same league may have been revealed.

Scarlet & Violet’s Terapagos May Be Able To Reshape Reality

One of the new Pokémon coming later this year is Terapagos, a turtle-like Legendary due to be introduced in the second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, The Indigo Disk. Known to be closely connected to the Terastal phenomenon, Terapagos’ existence as a third Legendary in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (to complement Koraidon and Miraidon) has previously been hinted at in the Scarlet/Violet Books and research notes found in Area Zero. And although unconfirmed, it is also believed that this Pokémon may have the power to make dreams and ideas a reality. This is mostly due to several incongruities relating to the Paradox Pokémon.

Paldea’s Unique Features Could Hint Towards Terapagos’ Power

Arven commenting on the inconsistencies of the origins of Paradox Pokémon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the presence of Paradox Pokémon in Paldea is supposedly a result of Professor Sada or Turo building a time machine in order to bring them to the present. However, they were inspired to do this by Heath’s Scarlet/Violet Book, which details encounters with Paradox Pokémon centuries earlier; consequently, the origin of Paradox Pokémon makes no logical sense. When taking into account rumors of Paradox Pokémon that can be found in volumes of the in-game magazine Occulture, theories have surfaced suggesting something different is happening in Area Zero – that the true power of the Disk Pokémon is bringing fantasies to life.

If Terapagos is indeed capable of such a thing, then this would explain many of the strange occurrences in Paldea. This includes the existence of Paradox Pokémon, which could be a result of the Professors being influenced by both Heath’s book and Occulture. It would also explain how they were able to construct a time machine and a robotic doppelganger – they are more dreams come to life. By extension, this could also mean Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Tera forms are the result of the people of Paldea simply believing Terastallization to be possible; perhaps Terastal energy is actually Terapagos’ reality-warping power at work.

Of course, the ability to reshape reality is incredibly potent. If this is Terapagos’ true power as a Legendary Pokémon, then this would place it as one of the strongest Pokémon in existence, even among its fellow Legendaries. And with the hints provided in the base games, this does seem likely to be the case. It is clear that the arrival of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will reshape Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players’ understanding of the Paldea region. Moreover, as a Legendary Pokémon said to be hiding in Area Zero, it appears Terapagos may be the titular treasure; a fitting final discovery for the Academy’s Treasure Hunt.
