Many new features have been added to the latest baseball release, MLB The Show 23, that have fans excited. One feature in particular, though, has caught players’ attention: a face scan feature that will allow them to add themselves to the roster. However, effectively using this feature is not exactly straightforward.

To use this feature in MLB The Show 23 and add your likeness to the game, it will first require that the companion app to the game be downloaded on a mobile device. The “MLB The Show Companion App” can be downloaded on Android and iOS devices from their respective app stores. This app is where the face scan is done, which will then be uploaded into the game.

In order to use the face scan feature, head to the app store and download “MLB The Show Companion App.” Once it is downloaded, open the app and connect the gaming account that will be used. Ensure that this information is correct; otherwise, the scan will not be loaded into the game. After logging in, select the face scan feature, which will be in the lower right corner of the screen in the menu bar. Next, select the agreement to acknowledge the terms and conditions, then download the link. After it is done downloading, a button will appear that allows players to open up their device’s camera.

After the camera opens, there will be a grid with a marker showing where to place your face for the optimal result. It is also recommended that flash be used to ensure the highest quality image. Select “Take Photo” when ready, and the image will be loaded up. If players are happy with the image, they can select “Upload.” If not, feel free to retake the picture as many times as needed. Next, confirm the upload and wait for it to complete. Once it is completed, there will be a screen confirming the image was uploaded into the game and is ready to be used to create a player. Even after the image is uploaded, it may take a few minutes to actually appear in the game.

Now that the selfie image has been uploaded, start MLB The Show 23 and use the create a player feature. If it has been properly uploaded, it will be available when creating the player. Double-check that the correct account is linked to the app if it is not there. Once it is loaded onto the player, continue through the create a player process to finish customizing them. The new custom player is now created and can be used alongside Legends in MLB The Show 23.
