Smalland: Survive the Wilds allows players to play as Smallfolk characters who wander around the giant world and tame creatures such as bugs for trekking. Like Grounded, the playable character is particularly small, so taming creatures that can help players is vital to survival.
While the size of the Smallfolk makes many of the other creatures pose a deadly threat, some of them can be turned into allies through a simple method of taming. However, remember that Smallfolk may only have one tamed creature at a time, unlike taming in other survival games like Valheim. So the prior tamed one will have to be released before taming another.
All Tameable Creatures
Currently, only a handful of creatures are available to be tamed in Smalland: Survive The Wild, but the creators have stated there is a potential for more in the future. For now, the only options to tame are the Damselflies, Geckos, Grasshoppers, Ladybugs, and Wolf Spiders. However, not all options will be available for taming right away. The first ones available will be the Grasshoppers and Ladybugs. After that, Smallfolk must explore and battle enemies to unlock the other options and the requirements for their specific treats. For example, unlocking the Wolf Spider will first require defeating the Albino Spider.
How To Tame Creatures
The method for taming in Smalland: Survive The Wild is somewhat similar to getting a pet in Grounded, but the item used in the process is different for each creature. To tame one, craft the treat they prefer and then get them down to less than half their normal health. Once that is done, feed them the specific treat, and the creature will be tamed. Once tamed, they will become a companion and provide a perk to aid players in exploring and battling enemies.

Once tamed, everything but the Ladybugs will serve as a mount with its own perk that will benefit players. Instead of being a mount, the Ladybugs are a way of expanding storage as they can carry an additional twenty items for you. Taming and releasing creatures will require strategizing which of their benefits will benefit players most. Regardless of which creatures players choose to tame and bring along with them, their journey will be one they won’t forget in Smalland: Survive The Wild.
