The final boss fight and end of the main story of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Osmund Saddler, is a very familiar-looking boss for those who have played games in the series before. Often evolving into something with tentacles and lots of yellow-red eyeballs, Saddler is no exception. And Leon Kennedy has decided enough is enough.
There are a few methods of finishing this boss fight in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Some will take more time and patience than others. Whichever route players decide to go, remember that Saddler has two main phases, and smaller enemies will come out eventually. If the player happens to finish the boss fight before that point, it is possible they never have to fight the smaller enemies.
Osmund Saddler Boss Fight Phase 1
Make sure to have plenty of healing items on hand before the fight starts and any special weapons or ammunition stocked up.
Saddler will begin the fight after bursting into his much more tentacle and eyeball form. As a result, he will move slower at the beginning, and he can be further slowed down by the red barrels found nearby. Explosives are also useful for doing so. Shooting the eyeballs enough times with any weapon will eventually end this phase of the boss fight, but there are a few things that can make it easier.
There is no need to conserve high-damage ammunition at this point in the game. According to the Youtube channel FP Good Game, use a high-powered, fully upgraded Resident Evil 4 Remake weapon like a Rifle, such as the SR M1903 or CQBR Assault Rifle, to pop the eyeballs can significantly expedite the boss fight and stagger Saddler more often. Attaching a Biosensor Scope can help target the eyeball. This damage can make the first phase of the fight a lot shorter.
Keep enough space between Leon and Saddler to avoid more dangerous amounts of damage, but keep Leon close enough that he can sprint in close within a few seconds. While Saddler is staggered, he must close the distance and use the Knife prompt on his head. Doing this three times alone should be enough damage overall to end this phase of the fight. It is not necessary, but it is an excellent way to track where the player is in the fight.
Keep moving in this phase when Leon is not firing to maintain enough distance between him and Saddler.
At some point, smaller enemies will arrive, but avoiding them and focusing firepower on Saddler is generally better. However, using the higher damage weapons can speed the fight up enough to prevent the smaller enemies entirely. The best way to ensure this is to use the Rocket Launcher when Saddler’s head with the main eyeballs appears. However, the Rocket Launcher is not necessary to finish the fight; it is just the quickest way.
Osmund Saddler Boss Fight Phase 2
When the second phase starts, there will be a huge glowing orange orb in front of Leon. Pull out a Magnum, such as RE4 Remake‘s Broken Butterfly, or Shotgun, such as the Riot Gun, with high middle-to-short-range damage. Keep the gun aimed at the orb, and be ready for the Evade prompts. Saddler cannot move much at this point, but the tentacles will attack.
When they do, the Evade prompt will flash, and Leon needs to avoid damage. This phase does not take long to finish if the damage is being done to the main orb. Finally, a cutscene will trigger, and Leon will be thrown a new weapon. Grab it and shoot it directly into the orb, and the phase will be over. This is the end of the final boss fight in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
