Newcomer Rishi Singh from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way has striking similarities to fellow 90 Day Fiancé cast member Sumit Singh, although Rishi is much more reasonable than Sumit. Rishi made his debut on The Other Way season 4, along with his American fiancé, Jen Boecher. Rishi and Jen hit it off while she was traveling in India, and got engaged shortly afterward. Jen decided to move to India permanently to be with Rishi, however, she has to live separately from him for the time being since his family doesn’t know about their relationship yet.
On the other hand, 90 Day Fiancé’s Sumit Singh appeared on The Other Way seasons 1 through 3 with his wife Jenny Slatten, when she moved to India to marry him after years of having a long distance relationship. However, Sumit and Jenny’s relationship faced many obstacles, specifically the disapproval from his family over the couple’s 30-year age gap. Sumit had also been secretly married to another woman, which caused Jenny to leave India for some time, although she eventually returned. Sumit and Jenny finally got married during The Other Way season 3 finale, despite Sumit’s numerous red flags.
90 Day Fiancé’s Rishi Singh Is More Honest Than Sumit
Rishi is more reasonable than Sumit in many aspects, including the fact that he’s much more honest with Jen than Sumit ever was with Jenny. While Rishi hasn’t yet told his family that he’s engaged to Jen, he’s also not hiding another wife like Sumit was at one point. In fact, Rishi even went as far to say that he wouldn’t marry anyone else if he couldn’t marry Jen, regardless of what his family thought. On the other hand, Sumit was dishonest with Jenny on numerous occasions, and even revoked their application for a marriage license without telling her, in addition to secretly being married.
90 Day Fiancé’s Rishi Is More Willing To Fight For His Relationship
In addition to being more honest, Rishi is also willing to go to greater lengths to fight for his relationship with Jen than Sumit was ever willing to do with Jenny. Rishi is making steps toward revealing the news to his family, and first introduced Jen as a friend. However, Jen’s Indian visa is only good for four months, so Rishi knows that he will have to disclose the news before it expires. However, Sumit was never willing to stick up to his family regarding his relationship, and hid his marriage with Jenny from his parents for quite some time.
While 90 Day Fiancé cast members Rishi and Sumit may have a lot in common, the two Indian natives have handled their similar storylines in very different ways. Rishi has acted much more reasonably than Sumit ever has, despite some of his quirkier flaws, such as bringing Jen yoga mats when she needed more important items like blankets and toilet paper. Rishi has made it clear that he intends to be open with his family about his engagement with Jen at some point, which is something Sumit was never able to fully bring himself to do with his family regarding Jenny.
