‘Melatonin’, ‘Hyper Gunsport’, Plus Today’s Other New Releases and the Latest Sales – TouchArcade

Date:

[ad_1]

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for December 23rd, 2022. It’s the last pre-Christmas edition, and while I’m sure we’ll see a couple more indie games shadow-dropping today (probably one very big one), I’ll have to catch up on them later. I’ll be all nestled in bed by the time you read this, potentially dreaming of sugar plums? I don’t know. Anyway, summaries of all those new games I know of. A big list of new sales. Some expiring sales. That’s the bunch. Let’s jingle some bells!

New Releases

Melatonin ($14.99)

This is a rhythm game with twenty different levels to play, each one presenting its own dream-inspired challenge. The visuals have a very distinct look to them, and if you’re looking for something after the story is finished there are unlockable Challenge Modes and Mash-Ups, plus a level editor and Practice Mode. Mikhail’s been playing this one and tells me it has Rhythm Heaven vibes, and those are good vibes to be having. He’ll have a review for us sooner or later.

Hyper Gunsport ($24.99)

I’m sure the Stadia software line-up needs to introduction to anyone, given how wildly successful the console was. We’ve all played its many hits to exhaustion, but now that the system is winding down, what do do about some of those exclusives? Necrosoft’s Gunsport will at least live on through this sequel, Hyper Gunsport. It’s kind of like volleyball, but with guns. Up to four players can join in via local multiplayer, and it’s extremely fun. If you like playing over-the-top sports games with your friends or family, you might want to give this a look.

Astronomical Club For Queers ($9.99)

A rather simple adventure game with a premise well-described by its title. After a flood, a civet named Louie is staying at a friend’s house. Other friends gather at the house and together they listen to a podcast and wait for the approaching Halley’s Comet. A short and sweet tale about friendship and understanding, in case you need something like that today.

Risk Your Life to Get Your Dinner Back -Nyanzou Action Game- ($1.00)

That may well be one of the most compelling titles I’ve ever seen on a video game. We can all understand the pangs of hunger from an empty stomach, and the feelings of rage and frustration if our hard-earned sustenance is absconded with by some base fiend. If we cannot recover our food, we will certainly die. Thus, a certain amount of risk for the sake of recovering our valuable caloric intake is warranted. Thought-provoking stuff. Shame the title is attached to a rather shabby three-stage auto-runner. Well, it’s a buck. You get what you pay for.

Roller Katz: BF – Episode 1 ($4.99)

I can’t really make heads or tails of this one. You’re skating through a 3D world and can do a variety of tricks. You can also attack enemies and explore various paths. Judging by the episodic title and the low price, I’m guessing this isn’t very long. But I really can’t say for sure as I haven’t played it and don’t see a lot of information online about it. Proceed with caution.

Truck Simulator 3 ($12.99)

BoomHits has another driving game, and it’s the publisher’s third kick at its Truck Simulator series in particular. Pretty much the usual thing from these folks, with ten vehicles to drive, some decent-sized spaces to drive in, and a bunch of missions to complete. It will likely be deeply discounted within weeks.

Zombie Survival ($3.99)

Well hey, at least it’s a little different from Cooking & Publishing’s usual template. This one is a very brief visual novel style thing where you make your choices and uncover twenty different endings with four different characters. Probably not very good, going on this publisher’s history.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

This is but a selection of the games on sale today, as you’ll find many more deals from Capcom, Idea Factory, the Pixel Game Maker Series, and others if you go looking. For now, check the list of new sales here to see what’s notable and hitting new low prices. There’s also the weekend outbox, but there isn’t much in there.
