A new set photo from Joker: Folie à Deux sees Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn at a key movie location from the first film. Todd Phillips is fleshing out his Elseworlds franchise with the Joker universe. After the major success behind the 2019 installment, Joker: Folie à Deux is currently in the works. Joaquin Phoenix is reprising the role of Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. the Joker. But he will be joined by another famous DC player, this time around with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
Lady Gaga was recently spotted on the Joker: Folie à Deux set at a very iconic location. As shared by Discussing Film, the actress was seen filming at the same stair from the first Joker movie.
In the first Joker movie, this is where Arthur headed and performed his infamous dance. Whether or not Harley will have a similar moment in Joker: Folie à Deux remains to be seen.
Everything We Know About Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn
While Margot Robbie has been playing Harley Quinn in the DCEU, Lady Gaga’s iteration will be quite different. Set in a world where Bruce Wayne hasn’t become Batman yet, Harley comes into Joker’s life a lot earlier. Since Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical, it will reportedly be heavily from Harley’s perspective. Given the title’s translation is “madness shared by two,” Harley is one piece of the puzzle.
It remains unclear if Joker: Folie à Deux will depict Harley as Joker’s psychiatrist like in the comics. There have been theories that they are both patients of Arkham Asylum. Lady Gaga’s Harley was recently seen in a mugshot image, alluding to her fate as an Arkham patient. Set photos and videos have also given a good look at her Harley costume. Based on the design, it is likely meant to be reminiscent of Pheonix’s Joker suit.
Needless to say, Lady Gaga as Harley is going to be a major aspect to look for in 2024’s comic book movies. With the musical aspect as well, it will be intriguing to see what Phillips has in store for audience members. As Joker: Folie à Deux gets closer to wrapping, it’ll hopefully not be long until the first trailer is released.
